I gave to my 9 years old son. He likes the illustrations and he enjoy the stories about culture. Since we have plans to visit Spain and Latin America, i had to teach him the basic Spanish culture. He also learn some basic Spanish words, thankful it's a bilingual book. Great book

5 stars Great for beginners and early intermediate Spanish students

Great read for Spanish language students. The book is split up into several short stories with pictures, which help with finding context with meaning, and if you get lost, the English translation is right there on the next page. You also get a but of cultural insight and that's very important as well. I definitely recommend it as it's approachable, enjoyable, and the short stories can be read relatively quickly.

Although I'm approximately 7x older than the intended ages on the cover, I am really enjoying reading (and rereading) this book for several reasons. I was first drawn to it because I have been learning Spanish for the past 20 months and I found that the vocabulary and grammar stretched me just enough. Having a few sentences in Spanish on 1 page followed by the English on the next page makes it easy for me to incorporate any new vocabulary and grammar structures into my memory. The stories about real cultural events in different Latin American countries are engaging and have helped me to appreciate the people even more than I already do. They make me want to experience each of these festivals/ceremonies for myself. I also deeply appreciate the universal values that woven into each story which are crucial for a child to learn. I love the idea that Alex, the young boy in the stories, is excited to travel with his abuela. I love the way he respects her and looks out for her. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to practice their Spanish reading skills while at the same time being regaled with beautiful drawing and script. It's a great book to share with a youngster as well.

The short stories are very interesting. You can learn about history and culure of latin america. Perfect for beginner Spanish students. It has beautiful pictures and translation to English, which help you enrich the vocubulary and enjoy the rich language
