Bob's Red Mill Vegan Potato Flakes - 16oz

I purchased these for the ingredient list, only potatoes. Honestly, I cannot eat them. I followed the instructions exactly and they are very watery even after letting them set up etc. I made a second time and added more flakes but still the texture is so off-putting and I usually LOVE instant potatoes and really like Red Mill's products, but this I just couldn't do. Disappointed.

These are excellent, nothing added. I mixed up a quick and easy serving for myself with butter, salt, pepper, and chives. Originally, I bought these as a binder ingredient for my home made baked dog treats, along with meat and eggs, turned out great.

Easy for quick mashed potatoes as well as for thickening soups and stews. For a quick one-dish meal, stir into the prepared mashed potatoes finely chopped fresh spinach, cottage cheese or yogurt, olive oil, salt, pepper and dill. Smooth and satisfying.

I bought this today because I needed to make mashed potatoes for my Shephard's Pie, and I honestly did not feel like peeling, washing, boiling and mashing potatoes. I was willing to give this a try, because the ingredients are simply "Dehydrated Potatoes." I made it these the microwave because I was happy there was a quick, one-bowl preparation method. So quick and easy! For what they are (reconstituted dehydrated potatoes) they taste pretty good! They are perfect for when I would like mashed potatoes for a side dish during the week, but do not want to go through the hassle of preparing potatoes. I have my Shephard's Pie in the oven now, and I suspect they will cook and taste like regular potatoes. I would like to buy the 25LB bulk size, but I have read that it is not the same taste or texture (read: it is worse) as the 1LB size. These can also be used to thicken soups, in bread, and as a breading for protein!

I really like these potato flakes. I use them not just for mashed potatoes, but as a thickener for soups and stews. They taste just like what I'd make from fresh spuds. One little picky statement: I'm a vegan vegetarian; the package says "vegan," but the directions tell the user to use milk and butter - this is not "vegan," but substitutes for the dairy products are quite usable. I use vegetable broth.

Why wouldn't this product be made in your dedicated gluten-free facility? It's already naturally GF, why not make it Celiac safe as well?

How this overpriced crap ended up store selves is beyond me. Lesson learned...

Love the Potato Flakes. Nice and creamy potatoes whip up in a flash. I make them with unsweetened plant milk.

The potato soup recipe on the bag is awesome - and so easy! I look forward to using the flakes to thicken other soups as well. These flakes are also a great change from using panko to bread foods for air frying. I still need to do some experimentation for regular mashed potatoes to get a family friendly texture. Definitely recommend as a pantry must-have!

I love that these are just potatoes without all the chemicals! I stocked up because they have so many uses. I can find a lot of Bob's products locally but not these. Thanks!

They're very practical, high quality and very easy to use. One cup yields a pretty sizeable amount of mashed potatoes. I'm giving 4 stars only because I wish they were also organic.

I love that Bob's Red Mill potato flakes are just that--potato flakes and no artificial additives. I can add my own favorites like sour cream, cream cheese and/or herbs to create the flavor I want. I won't use any other brand.

Fast and yummy product to make instant/mashed potatoes! I like adding spices as well!

Haven’t used these yet, but bought them because the ingredients are so simple….just potato flakes. The store brands of potato flakes are filled with additives. I’ll use these mainly for making topping for Shepherd’s Pie.

The potatoes have a good taste compared to other instant potatoes Ive tried.

I've tried several brands of 'instant' mashed potatoes, and Bob's are easily the best. They have excellent consistency and can be made very smooth to thick by adjusting the flakes to water ratio. And they always (I've bought them numerous times now) are at the same level of quality. I don't see how they could be any better. They contain no salt, so you can salt them as much or as little as you like.

These are great! I made the potato soup recipe on the back. Easy and yummy.
