Missing Parts and Difficult
The item is a good idea. Ours was missing the chisel, but even with use a metal chisel of our own, the block was so hard, full grown adults struggled. Would not recommend. We ended up soaking in water to soften.

Kept 5 year old occupied but he was sad because it was missing a stone
This kept my 5 year old son occupied for a good hour. It is very messy but thankfully we did it outside. He had a lot of fun matching the stones to the poster but was pretty disappointed when he couldn’t find the last one. The citrine was missing. Looking at other reviews I guess we are lucky compared to some people who got 0 stones!

Tiny stones
My 11 yo daughter really enjoyed this, but the stones that came out of it were small and disappointing. It was quite difficult to chip away at (even with the water) so it’s not one of those ones that crumbles quickly. Most of the rocks were in the perimeter of the block and there wasn’t anything in the center. Lego Minifig for size reference.

Missing a gem
My 6-year-old enjoyed it, but it was much too difficult for my 3-year-old. (I realize what age recommendation it lists). The disappointing thing was that I pounded it to dust for them and it's missing one gem. Very disappointing.

Misleading unfortunately
Fun activity for kids, unfortunately not for gem enthusiasts. The turquoise in our kit was cracked and differently colored inside. None of the others broke, but I can't tell if they're real or not, and that would make someone who really knew their stuff really upset.

Patience is key.
Pretty cool concept, but it was difficult to carve. My nephew is within the recommended age group and he struggled. Although it was long to get to all the gems, he had fu. I had to help him carve out some gems that were really stuck.

Fun activoty for kids with "indoor rocks"
We really enjoyed this activity! My almost 7 year old bought this with her allowance. She loves collecting rocks and thought this would be really fun. I was worried because some reviews said they didn’t get any gems so I tried to prepare her for that. Most gems were in the center of the brick so once we got there, we found most in rapid succession. Great value, about 1.5 hours total of digging! It wasn’t too messy, we used an old cookie sheet.

My 5yr old and 3yr old had soooo much fun with this! I made them use it outside though because it was pretty messy. No complaints about the mess though because that’s to be expected with digging lol
