In this book, the first in a series, basic notes in the treble clef from middle C up to the B above it are shown on the staff underneath their corresponding letters in the story. Gustav, the pointer, points out the notes to the reader with his right paw telling the reader that these notes would be played with their right hand on the piano. There are several humorous antics in the story as well to create a fun way to learn music by recognition.

Fun pictures accompany the story in this creative children's book aimed at giving children and adults a head start on reading music on the staff before they start any formal training.
