Not your usual history book

People say history books are written by the winners, but this one is definitely the opposite of that. I love how this book highlights the great contributions that women throughout time has given in American military history. It is not just about those who conquer, but it tells the story of the people behind every conquest. I also like how women are actually named in this book, and not just the usual footnotes such as "nurse", "wives" and other titles reserved for secondary characters. This was such an eye-opening and entertaining read.

Valuable Contributions of Women in the Military Date Back to Colonial Times

Interesting and comprehensive look at how women have served in US wars either behind the scenes or on the front lines. Dating back to the French-Indian Wars and taking us through the ill fated Gulf region wars, women played their part whether it was growing and cooking the food, performing cryptography up to being out in the field. Many of the women in the book were lesser known and new to me. This book shows how indispensable women have been for centuries in supporting and participating in various war efforts domestically and abroad.
