About this item

Highlights

  • Level 3 MB 33 Mouthpiece: Provides maximum tongue relief with a 1.5-inch medium-wide port, shifting pressure to the bars and lips for horses that are already well-started and highly responsive.
  • Independent Side Movement (ISM): Features a revolutionary design that allows each side of the bit to move independently, enabling you to lift a single shoulder or flex laterally without affecting the opposite side of the mouth.
  • 6 3/4-Inch Seven Shank: Constructed from sleek black steel, this shank offers mild to moderate indirect leverage with a "7" shape that delivers a slower, more nuanced signal than traditional straight shanks.
  • Sweet Iron with Copper Inlay: The mouthpiece is engineered to oxidize, creating a palatable taste that promotes salivation and a soft, moist mouth for better bit acceptance.
  • The "Myler Gap" Sizing: Purposefully manufactured 1/8-inch larger than the stated size to ensure a required 1/8" to 1/4" of clearance on each side, preventing the shanks from pinching the horse's lips.
  • Western Performance Ready: Optimized for disciplines such as Reining, Western Pleasure, and Trail, where a finished headset and subtle, indirect rein action are essential for success.

Description

Achieve ultimate refinement and a soft, willing connection with a bit designed to eliminate tongue pressure and reward your horse's responsiveness. The Myler MB 33 Seven Shank transforms subtle cues into precise performance, making it the premier choice for finished horses in the show ring or on the trail.Crafted from durable black steel, this bit features the innovative MB 33 mouthpiece—a Level 3 design providing the highest degree of tongue relief in the Myler system. The sweet iron construction naturally oxidizes to create a sweet taste that encourages salivation, while the 1.5-inch medium-wide port allows your horse to swallow freely, promoting a relaxed jaw and total focus on your aids rather than oral discomfort.Key Features & Specifications:Frequently Asked Questions:Q: Is this bit appropriate for a young horse just starting under saddle?A: No, the MB 33 is a Level 3 bit designed specifically for "finished" horses that are already responsive to seat and leg aids. Younger horses typically require the more direct tongue pressure found in Level 1 or Level 2 bits to understand basic cues during the early stages of training.Q: How do I ensure the correct fit and adjustment for this leverage bit?A: Because Myler bits are built 1/8-inch wider than stated to allow for the "Myler Gap," you should ensure there is slight clearance on both sides of the mouth. For proper communication, adjust your curb strap or chain so that it engages when the shank reaches a 45-degree angle.Item Number/SKU: 89-13335

Just what the trainer ordered

I bought this bit on the recommendation from my trainer and seems to be exactly what we needed. Our horse was constantly tossing his head and after ruling out potential issues (dental, etc.) realized he hated his old bit. Unfortunately that one was sold to us by a prior trainer and without the horse’s and rider’s best interests in mind. glad I went with the 5”. Looks nice with the headstall, too. Thanks SmartPak!

Great bit for a well trained horse

I had been using a level 2 bit. Same mouthpiece and shank and noticing resistance. My horse is well behaved on the trail. Would never think of bolting or running away with me. Doing 1st and 2nd level western dressage. Tried this bit and he loves all the tongue relief. Collects easily and keeps his back up pretty much the whole time. I switch back and forth from my level 2 snaffle which I trail ride in. It's more of a performance bit.
