Book Synopsis

What's a fairy to do if she was imagined all wrong?

Solace has a mind of her own, and an enormous embarrassment of a tail to go with it. Rejected by the other fairies, Solace is on a quest to find her imaginator and convince them to reimagine her into an acceptable fairy. As Solace journeys through the human realm in a race through the time mists, she finds some unlikely companions who want to help. Her new friend Zephyr insists that she's wonderful as she is. Solace knows better. She doesn't belong. But how will Solace ever get her wish when she keeps getting bogged down by cranky dragons, a godmother, and a very roguish pirate?

Solace is an unruly and headstrong heroine, and she ultimately discovers the value in found family, self-acceptance, and the power of true friendship. Perfect for anyone who has struggled to belong, who questions their place in the world, and who enjoys an adventure that keeps you guessing, Solace is a captivating tale for all ages.

Review Quotes

"This is so suited for early teenagers who always seem to think they are out of step with the world and not quite right. Solace, who is a wonderfully independent thinker, feels something of an outsider... [Solace] has an adventure in front of her and what characters she meets along the way! I read this to my grandchildren, and although I thought my granddaughter would prefer it to my grandson, they were both equally engaged! So was I! " -Goodreads review

.

"Solace's journey to find her creator makes the book feel like both an adventure and a personal mission (something I think many can find themselves in!) and I liked how it shows the idea of wanting to belong while also learning to accept yourself. Along the way, Solace meets different characters, who add a nice mix of support, magic, and friendship to the story. The world the author creates is fun and imaginative without being hard to understand, and the challenges Solace faces feel meaningful without being too dark or complicated. The pacing is steady, and the characters are written in a way that makes them easy to connect with. If you love fantasy, this book is a great read for young and old." -Goodreads review

"Solace: A fairy's Tail is about, well - a fairy's six-foot long tail that changes color with her mood. It has a beautiful color and an engaging, imaginative and fun story that will appeal to young readers. I liked the writing: it felt fresh and original, and I read it out loud to a small child with giggles galore." -Goodreads review

"A charming and captivating story. Unique in the world of fairies, Solace, who unlike her peers, sports red hair, freckles, large ears, and two sets of wings-embarks on a quest to find her creator and be reimagined. Along the way, with themes of courage, acceptance, and belonging. Suitable for young readers and adults, the imaginative world and heartfelt journey make it a worthwhile read. Overall, it's a fun and inspiring fantasy adventure with a clear message that its ok to be different. she meets friends like Zephyr and faces challenges including dragons, a godmother, and a pirate." -Goodreads review

"A Fairy's Tail by Isabella R. Roy reimagines traditional fairy tales with a modern and inclusive perspective, offering a warm and heartfelt story. Solace's personal journey resonates emotionally with readers, highlighting themes of difference, belonging, friendship, sacrifice, and the power of imagination throughout her adventures in the fairy realm.

The story unfolds in a whimsical, imaginative world reminiscent of a fairy tale, creating a colorful and engaging atmosphere. Its playful and captivating tone makes it a delightful and inspiring read, especially for young readers and fans of fantasy fiction." -Goodreads review

"[Solace] fears whether she will ever find a permanent place in her universe, which is full of beautiful fairies. So, she travels to find out her creator to question him and possibly insist on changing her appearance. On her way, she encounters several challenges that she overcomes with the help of an angel, Zephyr. She will meet a Godmother, Allura, who has more magical powers than Solace does. Working together with both of them, Solace will find a unique solution to the conflicts between humans and the dragons, whom Aldreth heads.

However, Solace remains concerned about her quest to meet her creator. Will she finally find them? Will she stick to her decision to transform herself into a beautiful fairy? What hurdles do Solace, Allura, and Zephyr face before making everyone's life comfortable?

...The characters are well-developed and three-dimensional, making them easy to connect with.

I highly recommend this book to both fantasy and self-help readers who enjoy life lessons while reading the fairy tale." -Goodreads review
