Great product!
I’ve been using the SanDisk Professional 1TB G-DRIVE ArmorATD for a few weeks now, and it’s exactly what I needed. It feels super solid with the rubber bumper and aluminum casing—definitely built to take a few knocks. I’m often moving between locations, and it’s reassuring to have a drive that can handle dust, light rain, and being tossed in a bag without worry.

Easy to Install, No Data Protection
Easy to install because it has no app to define password or encryption software to protect data.

Hi, We apologize for the inconvenience and delayed response. Please be informed that it is a plug n play device. There is no security feature in G-Drive ArmorATD. However, Windows has dedicated BitLocker software which is a Windows security feature that provides encryption for the entire volume, which addresses threats of data theft. Mac users have Keychain to keep track of keys, certificates and other sensitive information in the keychain. If you have any specific concerns or require technical support, Please feel free to contact us directly at www.westerndigital.com/support the customer support team get back to you in a earliest possible time.

Stopped working after I bought Mac Mini M1
I can't remember when I bought this 4TB model (through official Apple website), so I suppose it is beyond warranty date. It worked well for several years, then when I bought a Mac Mini M1 in 2022, things went downhill. The HDD would take a long time to start up on connection (5-10 mins), and would sometimes not unmount, claiming it was being used (even though all apps had been disconnected). My Time Machine partition got corrupted, and now I cannot access it. Sometimes, the drive completely refused to mount. It works somewhat better when I don't use the Satechi hub and connect direct to the Mac Mini, and works fine when I connect it to my 2011 MBP. This is not acceptable, as I do photography work. I am considering buying a professionally-recommended brand.

2nd Crash with Mac Mini
As a designer and photographer, I found the design very stylish and I trust the Sandisk brand, so I bought it (2TB) to store my professional photos in the safest way. However, for the second time in a year, I got a warning that my Mac Mini had a problem with this disk and could not repair it, immediately copy it to another disk and then format it. The first time I had to buy a program to recover my data, but still lost many important photo folders for me. I'm glad I didn't lose my data this time, but I'm sorry I had to copy all of them to other disks, and unfortunately I've lost all trust in this disk.
