Yamaha YH-C3000: Guilty Pleasure!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The c3k are headphones that don't typically match my preference, but I still really enjoy them. And I think a lot of people will too. But they are more specific in terms of music compatibility because of their boosted bass and closed-in presentation. With modern songs that don't have a variety of things going on at once, they are awesome and highly enjoyable. With complex music containing various elements, they don't impress and you should probably pass. It won't be able to match the kind of insight the yh5k provides but that's ok, it doesn't have to. Yamaha didn't market these as their flagship and statement piece, which aptly belongs to the yh-5000se. Downsides: small cups, too sensitive, can veer hot on occasions, falls apart at high volume, niche signature ("non-reference") Upsides: comfort/build/feel/isolation, excellent texture, fast and responsive, overall natural response, authentic/accurate vocals, top-notch imaging, bass bass bass Neutral: soundstage
