Lost removable dividers
We have five of these lunch boxes and keep loosing the removable dividers - we now only have one left! It doesn't look like you can order replacement dividers. Makes the lunch boxes much less useful without them.

PLEASE bring back the OLD DESIGN! These leak 😭
I've had 4 different bentgo boxes for my kids over 7 years. New ones were bought this year, the "adult lunch bentgo box", and these, with the single long closure, leak inside! With the 2 new boxes, canned pears leaked so much that the peanuts next door looked like they were swimming! And no, it was not so full, it overflowed when closing. The applesauce will also leak out of its spot. PLEASE bring back the OLD DESIGN!

Design flaw
I love these lunch boxes, but unfortunately this Modern version has a design flaw in that the closure tab breaks off repeatedly. My son uses one of these for his school lunch, and we've had 2 replacements since purchasing a new one in August 2025, despite it only being used for school and following all the care and use instructions.

Not Good
I bought four of these as I meal prep my lunches on Sunday’s. I’ve had two of them break at the hinges. I didn’t post a review when the first one happened as I thought it may just have been a manufacture error but to have two break is a bit ridiculous. The other thing I don’t like about it is that it isn’t leak proof. You can’t have something like yoghurt in one of the smaller compartments and a sandwich in another as the yoghurt will leak into the compartment with the sandwich in it. For a product that is as expensive at it is it is not something I’m happy with it be spending money on again.

Awful leakage!
I picked my daughter up from school. She told me her lunch was ruined and she was starving. Come to find out it’s leaking(the other one we have does too). We’ve love bento in the past but this is a waste!

Leaking
I bought this because it promised to be leak-proof, but it completely failed. Even the bottom-right compartment leaked when I put a salad in it, and the juice spread into the other sections. As a result, all of my other dry food ended up soaked in salad dressing.

Latch issue
I love these so much!! But I bought for the school year and the latch is already breaking. Mind you these go to school in a padded lunch box. For the price I was thinking they would last all year at least. Hoping the company can fix this issue.

Clasps broke within 5 months
Bought these boxes in August and both clips that hold them closed have broke completely by December. Very disappointed as these are expensive and we have others that are 5 years old and these didn’t last 5 months.

Food leaks between compartments
I bought two of these in July for my wife and daughter, to replace two of the classic style. We found that this Modern box leaked between the compartments a lot more than the previous classic style has. The whole thing doesn't link but it just leaks between compartments such that you can't have sliced apples in one compartment and crackers in another without getting really soft crackers in the four hours between packing it and eating it.

Not as good as the one for kid
My kids all love their lunch box and they use it everyday, no problem for years. Bought mine in a cute purple, uses it 5 times, and it’s brocken. Really disapointed.

False advertising. I purchased this thinking I could fill it with food as pictured for my kiddos lunch. Ha! Can’t close the box if you do that. Maybe it would be ok as a snack option but please don’t advertise that you can fit food in there as pictured. I would give zero stars if allowed. Also apparently I can’t return, since we used it. 😠

Easy, Practical, Environmentally Friendly
Bought this for my 10 year-old son, and he loves it. The larger compartment is big enough for a good-sized sandwich, but with the removable divider in the narrowest slot, I can still squeeze a PB&J in there (on typical $2 loaf sandwich bread) with room for a drinkable yogurt on the other side of the divider. The whole Bentgo fits easily in his classic style fabric lunch box (about 10"x8"x4") with enough space for a pouch and box drink. It takes 2 minutes to clean when he gets home, and I let it air-dry. I have put the removable tray on the top rack of the dishwasher before, but it washes so easily at the sink I really don't put it in the dishwasher anymore. As a preschool teacher, I've seen plenty of Bentgos in my class, and the ones that DON'T last are the ones whose outer cases that have been washed in the dishwasher. The rubber gaskets come loose, and if they don't become misshapen making it hard to close the box, then kids turn them into necklaces and bracelets. :) The outer case that the tray sits in just needs some dish soap and hot water to clean it, let it dry, and it's good to go.

Disappointing
I bought 4 of these lunch boxes for my kids and 3 have broken hinges. My kids have also told me that they are not leak proof as the juices from their strawberries (not in the removable compartment part) leaked into other compartments.

So Disappointed
I love Bentgo products but I’m so very disappointed with the Modern Lunch Box. I’m now in my THIRD Modern Lunch Box that has broken at the hinges and looking at the reviews it seems like several others are experiencing the same thing. I will say that Bentgo has been great at sending out replacement boxes due to the warranty. It’s so disappointing and has to be a waste of money to the company to always have to send out replacement lunch boxes for the broken ones. I really love the size of this lunchbox but it’s just not working out after going through 3

Good product but not leakproof between compartment
Love the size of the lunchbox and the compartments but they don't seem to be leakproof, which is the primary reason I bought this product. No leaking out of the box as a whole but for example, marinade/salsa liquid easily spilled from one compartment to another, which I wasn't expecting based on the "leakproof design" description - frustrating, as this limits what/how I can pack. The removable divider also isn't leakproof but I wasn't expecting that it would be (not sure if it's supposed to be or not!)
