Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

    My sons favorite pants

    My son loves these pants. He says they aren't good, they are great! They are soft, stretchy and look very nice. My husband wondered if they are from Peter Millar. Only thing to note is they are rather thin so I wouldn't recommend for below 60 degrees.

    These pants are nice and lightweight. My boys like them because they stretch and are comfortable. However, be advised that they run very small.     Short in length for tall boys...

    OK, so hear me out. I was looking to replace my son‘s cat and Jack quick dry uniform pant. I was very excited when I found the all emotion golfer pan because essentially they are the same material as the cat and jack pant, however upon receiving the golf pant at home, come to find out they are significantly shorter in length than the cat and Jack. This does not work for any tall, slim boys. Why oh why target can’t you just carry year round the quick dry uniform pant?! Ugh … back to the drawing board….
