  • A: At my local Target it seems they only had Cat6 in the 25'.

submitted byMike - 2 years ago
  • A: This is only the cat 6 cable. Don’t worry about doing cat ate as that is a little bit of overkill and not really required unless you are wiring a business. If you are just wiring your house, I would highly recommend cat 6a cable. It was designed as the next step up. It doubles the bandwidth to 500 MHz and adds mandatory testing for alien crosstalk, which means it’s built to resist interference from neighboring cables.

  • A: I ordered it because everything said Cat 8, but I got Cat 6 delivered. I believe this is classified as False Advertising.

Q: Is this wire rated for ceiling in-wall use for POE camera installation?

submitted by anon - 6 months ago
  • A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Cat 6 Ethernet Cable - dealworthy™ Black. When it comes to permanent installations like in-wall or ceiling runs, the dealworthy™ Cat 6 cable requires a bit of caution. While it technically supports PoE (Power over Ethernet), its safety rating is the most important factor for your project. 1. The "In-Wall & Ceiling" Rating Most dealworthy™ Ethernet cables are CM-rated (standard communication). For In-Wall: CM-rated cables are generally acceptable for residential in-wall use on a single floor. For Ceilings: If your ceiling is an "Air Plenum" (meaning it's used for air circulation or HVAC return), you are legally required by building codes to use a CMP-rated (Plenum) cable. CMP jackets are designed to emit very little toxic smoke if they catch fire. Recommendation: If you are running this through a standard attic or a simple drop ceiling that is not an air return, it is likely fine. However, if it's a professional or commercial space, you should look specifically for a CMR (Riser) or CMP (Plenum) rated cable. 2. Is it good for PoE Cameras? Yes, but with limitations. The dealworthy™ brand is a budget-friendly line. For PoE cameras, the two biggest factors are conductor material and gauge. PoE Support: It will power a standard IP camera (15W–30W) over typical residential distances (25–50 feet). Pure Copper vs. CCA: High-quality PoE installations prefer Pure Bare Copper because it handles heat better. Many budget "patch" cables use CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum). While dealworthy™ cables are marketed as "Cat 6," they are lightweight. If you are running a long distance (over 100 feet) or using high-power PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras, you should avoid budget patch cables and buy a spool of solid copper cable instead. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Cat six,Cat 6 not worth it. Upgrade to cat 6a.

Category six cable is OK for slower Internet but if you require it for a little bit more of an upgrade and for anything above 500 MHz I would highly recommend going to cat 6a cable. It. was designed as the next step up. It doubles the bandwidth to 500 MHz and adds mandatory testing for alien crosstalk, which means it’s built to resist interference from neighboring cables.

    Not fire-rated

Although the cord works just fine, it is NOT FIRE RATED AT ALL. Keep mind that most cables have "CM" labeled on the jacket, and this is the bare minimum for fire-standards. If you plan to run this in a wall or within a drop ceiling (residential), know that it may give off very toxic fumes during a fire and/or spread that fire more quickly. Ideally, you'd use a cable that has CMR or CMP on the label. Wtith that said, the risks are likely low, given all the other toxic items that could burn in the house. Just be aware of what you're buying--you get what you pay for.
