Lock it up!

Great for additional security. Drop this pin in ad lock it up. This will keep trespassers out. It is not a high security item, it does make me feel somewhat better. For some reason to comply with some rating, they do not offer a locking pin for the front of the arm. This is only for the rear closest to the post.

Very happy with this product. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because there are none for the front of the arm. I would like to see an them offer the same type pin for the front of the arm or make the hole bigger so this one would fit.

The clevis pins are not for the gate side, but are for the post side. No problem, you just need to use a pad lock for the gate side, IF security is an issue.

Corrosion-prone

This product appears to be chromed carbon steel. About 18 months after installing the gate opener with this pin, the gate stopped operating properly. No amount of re-programming made any difference, all gate parts were lined up perfectly, batteries were fully charged, and we installed a larger 30W solar panel to be sure there was adequate charging power. After all that, I took the pin out of the ram and found that it took considerable strength to move the opener on the rear post hinge this pin goes through. Closer inspection revealed it had corroded so badly I couldn't get the pin out, and had to cut the pin off, re-drill the bracket on the post, tear the opener apart, remove the inner bushing, drill out the corroded pin, and install a proper stainless steel pin. Severely disappointed this is not a stainless component when all other components it mates with are stainless or brass. Complete junk, do not purchase! It took me an entire day to basically re-manufacture things so they work properly again.
