Good, but flawed
OK, so let me start this review by clarifying that I am in no way an expert builder. This is about my 8th or 9th big build. I have done a Zelda, some Transformers, and I received this as a birthday present from my wife. It was very good fun to build, until it wasn’t. I had issues with it coming apart slightly when I tried to clip the next stage on, mostly with the head. That was a bit of a nightmare. Now, this may be my ham-fisted approach to Lego, but it happened more than a few times. My other issue is the stand. I see a mix of images with the stand in 2 locations, either right in the middle, which looks correct, or a few (mine included) where the gap for the stand is at the back. I have checked the instructions and can see no way at all that stand goers in the middle. And I am certainly not about to try and rebuild it to move the stand, so mine leans forward forever now. It looks amazing, some great little details, it comes together really well in the end, I have still not had any issues with missing parts and the instructions (90% of the time) are very clear. A few times, they could have been a bit more specific. Overall, I really enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t suggest anyone try this as a first build.

It is a good Lego set I didn’t really understand the instructions but I never do so I used the build app and it was a bit expensive but it’s so fun to build I would really recommend it

Itsa Mario!!!
As a new LEGO fan, I wasn't expecting this to be as big as it was, so I was pleasantly surprised. There was one moment while building a hand when I actually got an adrenaline rush. It was so intricate and so well designed. The only issue I've had is the undercarriage falling out while moving around. I've had to refasten it a couple times and seems stable now. Great nostalgic piece. Bravo LEGO!

Perfect for your gaming room
Nice and easy build. Going to look great in the “gaming loft” with the Nintendo console. Wish I’d ordered with bonus turtle shell to complement it. Nice easy build. Wish they’d offer Bowser who I always played as. Wife played as Princess Peach. Be interesting to see if they offer more options in the future.

Buy this set!
I am so happy I bought this, but I wish I bought it with the GWP. I also wish that Mario was able to stand outside of his kart. Maybe we can get some new drivers/karts?

Constantly falls apart
This could’ve been such a good build. I loved building the kart. But Mario was terrible. He just falls apart.

Thank you so much for sharing your building experience. It must have been frustrating for Mario to keep falling apart. If you decide to revisit your build, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be and make sure each piece is pressed tightly together. If you'd like a hand troubleshooting, please reach out to us at LEGO.build/Service-BV and our brick experts can guide you through your build!

Nintendo Kid
I love all of the large Nintendo sets, I’ll post the other builds as well. Mario’s Kart really encapsulates the in game feeling. Mario himself was the excitement of the build, with his huge noggin being large enough to have tons of detail. This piece has a very nice display option, where the entirety of Mario and his kart can rotate 360 degrees! Definitely one of, if not my favorite sets yet!

Amazing set!!
I bought this on sale, and it's brilliant. The building techniques are genius! No stickers either, so great display piece along side my Lego Game Boy and Nintedo NES. 100% recomend this set.

Nightmare to Build
Just want to say first, I’m a big fan of Lego so this criticism comes from someone who cares — but this was a NIGHTMARE to build! So many parts of the set are held together by barely any studs, which causes it to fall apart as you’re building. As I fix one section, another piece falls off on the other side! Lego needs to fix this where the sets they put out actually stick together and are not hanging on by a thread.
