Q: My pet albino rat run away. Is this trap hurt the rat?

submitted by Note - 12 days ago
  • A: Hi, thank you for reaching out. This is a live mouse trap, designed to catch mice without harming them when used as directed. However, a pet albino rat may be too large for this trap, so it may not work effectively. The trap is not intended to hurt the animal, but because of the rat's size, we cannot recommend it for this purpose. At this time, we do not offer a live trap designed specifically for rats. We hope you're able to safely recover your pet soon.

Q: What bait can be used

submitted by Max - 3 months ago
  • A: Thank you for contacting us. We are glad you chose our products. As bait, we recommend using peanut butter, chocolate, and meats, such as bacon. Only a small amount of bait is needed—a pea-sized portion, or whatever fits on the tip of a toothpick, is sufficient.

Q: Are there holes on the unit ?Some ppl may not check it in time and therefore the humane aspect fails.

submitted by Ana - 4 months ago
  • A: Hi, thank you for reaching out. Yes, there are ventilation openings on the unit. The trap is designed with small air holes in the top to allow airflow while the mouse is inside. This helps keep the trap more humane by ensuring the animal can breathe comfortably until it’s released. That said, it’s still very important to check the trap regularly. Even with ventilation, leaving a mouse inside for too long can cause stress or dehydration. For best results (and to keep things truly humane), it’s recommended to inspect the trap at least once or twice a day.

It took 3 tries before the mouse was actually trapped. The first 2 times it just took the bait and and went back out.

    Works Like A Charm

I had (hopefully only one) a mouse in my apartment, who was fast as heck, tiny, and would only come out at night. Who needs to sleep, right? I ordered the trap, put it out with peanut butter and some dog kibble crumbs, and by nighttime, he was back out again and in the trap before I knew it. I put the trap in a plastic bin, drove him a couple of miles away to a park along a river and let him loose. It was a little tricky, and terrifying, opening the trap to release it, but I got it done quickly!

    It works...but...

Caught a mouse the first night with the trap in a drawer. I put the trap in a back pack and we went on a trip to release the live mouse. When I opened the backpack to take out the trap, the mouse was loose in the back pack. Surprised, I shrieked and dropped the pack. I then picked up the pack and upended it and the trap and the mouse fell out. The mouse fled. This is a design flaw. Needs a stronger spring or a catch to keep the spring door from opening and releasing the mouse.

    THE VANISHING MOUSE TRAP

My mice seem to like bird seed so I placed a small trail of bird seed leading to the open door of this trap and watched as several mice seemed to purposely avoid going near it. Next morning I went to check the trap and it was gone!!! I looked all over the patio, under the nearby bushes and really don't know who or what made off with this trap. Very strange.

    Great mouse trap!

We had a wild field mouse get in and this thing worked great! Be sure to put the bait all the way at the end in the part labeled "Bait" - missed that with my old eyes the first time. Note that this is for small rodents NOT rats. If you see evidence of or hear rats you need to call a professional.

It was a small rat and it was very smart . I couldn't catch it with the other traps I've had used before this one. Perfect for small ones to get the job done . Better if there's a bigger one for the adults.

We’re sorry to hear the trap did not meet your expectations in size. The Victor Live Catch Mouse Trap is designed specifically for mice, which is why it has a compact build.

    Trapping success the first night!

Wow! This was so easy to use, and it worked like a charm. My cat brought me a present -- a mouse -- while I was working in my home office. I locked the mouse in the office and got this from Target. The next day, the mouse was already trapped!

When I got it I thought it was too small, but then it turned out to be my best trap so far, 2 out of 4 within days, just using a little peanut butter. They recommended using gloves to set it up, so I did. It being clear lets you spot the mouse inside right away, Definitely would recommend for mice.

    Effective Trap

Was questioning the effectiveness of the trap but caught the mouse in my house after setting it out for around a week. A tiny smear of peanut butter in the tray was enough to get the job done.

    Trap didn't work

I had this thing out and bated for several days, and the mouse I have didn't fall for it. Must be a smart mouse.

Easy to use and set. We put peanut butter in the trap and captured the mouse within 24 hours. The clear view made it easy to check the trap.
