It is not intended for high-activity pasture time or use with other horses, as it could be stepped on and destroyed.Q: Should I size up if my horse is wearing a heavy bandage?Actually, no. The Toklat Medical Hoof Boot is designed to fit snugly like a wetsuit. Because the neoprene is stretchy, you should choose the size that matches your horse's hoof measurement in millimeters; a loose boot is much more likely to be stepped on and destroyed.Q: Can my horse wear this boot over a shoe?Yes, it works for both shod and unshod horses. However, if your horse is in large or remedial shoes like eggbars, we recommend sizing up one level to accommodate the extra metal.Item Number/SKU: 11-2108-0-BL

Not durable

These did not last one use. It ripped apart just trying to get it on. I don't see how this neoprene could last.

Didn’t last 24 hours

I bought this a week ago per my vets advice. On the box and in an instruction video it states it can be used in turn out. I put the boot on with Woof Wears Bell Boot. The next morning I found the boot in the field ripped at the seams. Definitely not worth the price.

Great concept

This boot is a great idea and for the first couple of days was perfect, however, on day 3 of using it, it completely fell apart.

Doesn’t hold up- don’t waste your money!!

I bought this two days ago and but it on last night... my horse wore it in his stall all night then went outside during the day. When I got home from work I found that his toe had gone right through the boot. I was very unhappy. Paying this amount of money for only one use wasn’t what I was looking for. See pictures

Great boot!

I bought these to keep my senior, abscess-prone pony's feet dry when she's out in the pasture. They are very soft and fit well, so I don't worry about them slipping or turning and causing her to trip. They fit her wide pony feet well and I love things that are easy to clean!

Had high hopes

Used this on a horse on stall rest for 2 weeks. The horse was wearing a shoe with additional wrapping under this boot. I took it off once a day to address wounds and re wrap. The boot lasted 1 week to the day.

(no review title)

These boots last as long as they say (2 weeks of straight wear) and were fairly durable for my horse. However, they are incredibly difficult to get on! Mine lasted about 4 months of on and off wear- turnout and stall rest- with a barefoot horse.

Great idea, needs improvement

These boots look so enticing -- easy to put on, lightweight, snug fit, etc. And they do fit nice and close, they are easy to do with the zipper, and they are lightweight. But, they are not durable enough to withstand longer (1hr+) turnout, playful horses, or a foot with a shoe in the boot. If you think your horse will play and carry on, sedate it, or put bellboots over these boots and check back frequently. A friend used this boot on a horse that had a shoe on the foot but had a raw abscess spot in the toe and wanted some protection for light turnout. The horse wasn't notably excited, but the shoe in the boot was too much and he sheared the sole from the neoprene. This boot would work best to cover a problem foot in a stall, but at that point, I'd rather just wrap it. And it would serve you for hand walking or light, supervised turnout, probably. For anything more, you'd be better off getting a SoftRide or something meant to withstand the weight of horse moving across terrain.

Great features!

This product does exactly what is advertised to do - it is a medical boot designed to keep poultices and dressings in place. It's not for long turnout times, it even says that on the box. If you have a horse who is going to run and play, I don't think this is for you. However, it has many other benefits. Its been great for treating my horse's abscess and keeping the mud and dirt off with the high zip up design (I'm able to do small paddock with supervised turnout). It's very stretchy neoprene reminds me of a wet suit so I do recommend measuring carefully for a snug fit. For the intended purposes, it works well.
